2024 Audi Q7 Review: The Jack Of All Trades Just Got Better!

So Audi has long had a very extensive lineup of crossovers with something for just about every buyer. and sitting at the top of that lineup in terms of size is the oh-so-popular Audi Q7. Audi has added some important standard features for 2024, and they've also added a new sporty trim level. So let's go ahead and get into it.

Before we move on, I just want to talk about the pricing. When it comes to the 2024 Q7, the prices don't rise too much for this model year. It's only going to be about $500, which is a standard price for this vehicle model year change. The model I’m reviewing is the top-level Prestige 55.

TrimPrice
Premium 45$60,695
Premium Plus 45$64,495
Premium 55$66,495
Premium Plus 45$69,595
Prestige 55$76,295

As far as the warranties are concerned, you do have 4 years and 50,000 miles for both your basic and powertrain. Additionally, Audi does not do complimentary maintenance, unfortunately.

Exterior Has Aged Quite Well

One of the changes for the 2024 MY is going to impact your front design as well as the rest of the exterior. New to the US for this model year is the S-Line Sport package, which you can add to the Prestige model. This is going to basically give the Q7 an SQ7-like appearance.

That's really the most basic way that I can kind of describe that. Just everything's going to be a little bit more aggressive and a little bit more S-like without you actually having to get the SQ7.

2024 Audi Q7 front view

The one I'm reviewing has the black optic package added to the Prestige. That's going to black out our signature single-frame grill, along with black emblems. And then, as far as our headlights, you're also always going to have very premium-looking LED headlights on all models.

You actually have three different arrangements. So you have a standard LED, a matrix LED, and then you have a high-end matrix LED. That one's going to come with fancy animations and projections.

2024 Audi Q7 rear view

The rear design comes with that classic Q7 look. It looks really, really good despite its age, and if you go for the black optic model, that's also going to black everything out in terms of the rear trim. That includes the rear bumper area. It looks phenomenal. Even the taillights look really good.

Now, as far as your wheels are concerned, you do have a wide variety of choices depending on which model you choose. The new S-Line package will give you some special wheels as well.

The 21-inch alloy wheels on the model I’m reviewing have been around for a while, but I think they look really nice with the overall package of the Q7.

Interior Hasn’t Changed Much For 2024

There are no major updates to the interior this year, but I do want to start by talking about interior color and material choices. So you are going to have standard leather on the Q7, just like every other Audi. But if you choose the high-end luxury package, that's going to upgrade you to Valcona leather.

The seats themselves are going to be 12-way power-adjusting with four-way lumbar support. That top-end luxury package again will give you some additional features here, including 18 ways of adjustment and power massaging.

I do also want to point out that memory seats are standard on all models, and if you choose the S Sport package, you will get a special S seat inside of this interior, which again kind of looks like a SQ7.

In terms of material used in the rest of the interior, most of the door is covered in leather, including the armrest. You’ll also find soft-touch plastic on the top part of the door panel and the top of the dashboard, along with some stitching detail.

The high-end luxury model will cover all of the dash with extended leather. Besides that, you’ll also find wood trim and piano black plastic both on the center dash and around the center console.

Barely Any Interior Space

Now, even though the Q7 is a big SUV, interior storage isn’t one of its strong areas. The storage area under the center armrest is quite small. It's very shallow. Also, unlike most cars, where the wireless charging pad is at the front end of the center console, the Q7 has its wireless charging pad in the armrest storage area. This effectively reduces the amount of space you have to keep things.

Thankfully, you still have two cup holders and door pockets that are big enough to store two bottles. But I would have expected more interior storage in a car of this size, and hopefully Audi does something about this for the 2025 MY.

The main display in the car is the 10.1-inch infotainment screen that comes with the Audi MMI system. Again, it is also touch-capacitive and has haptic feedback, so it does feel somewhat better than a normal touchscreen. You have built-in navigation, wireless Android auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay as well.

2024 Audi Q7 dual screen setup

You also have another screen in the Audi Q7, which is the dedicated 8.6-inch screen for the climate control system. So you have a standard three-zone climate.

If you choose the Prestige, that's going to upgrade you to four-zone climate control. It's also going to add the three-stage ventilated seats in addition to the standard three-stage heated seats.

Now, the climate controls are touch-capacitive, so you'll feel that click even though this is a touch screen. This is a neat feature if you’re not opposed to having touchscreen functionality instead of physical buttons for the climate control. But it does reduce the amount of storage space you would usually have if the interior came with more physical buttons.

When it comes to the sound system, you're going to have several different choices. Most models are going to come with a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system. This is the one that I had in the model I reviewed, and the overall sound quality of that system is quite nice.

Lastly, as you would expect with all the Audi's and their lineup, you always want that virtual cockpit system. Q7 does have it—12.3 in full digital setup. You can do all the fun tricks as usual, like making the map really large to take up most of the screen.

This is a very helpful feature. Now, if you choose a top-end Prestige model, you're also going to get a head-up display.

In terms of other features that come with the 2024 Q7, you have a 360° camera system if you choose at least the Premium Plus version. You also have a cool 3D view, so you can actually go around your vehicle, and you also have remote parking abilities for both parallel and perpendicular parking.

Rear Seats

In terms of space, the rear seats have 38.8 in both leg and headroom. That's a good amount of space. That is actually better than most of the rivals, like the Acura MDX and Volvo XC90. I’m 5'9, and I had plenty of space for my knees, and my feet could easily slide up underneath the front seats. As far as adjustability goes, the second-row seats can recline quite a distance to get some extra comfort.

2024 Audi Q7 second-row seats

In terms of features, you have vents in the middle and in the b-pillar as well. So you actually have two vents for each passenger in the rear. So that's very nice. And just like the front, you have your own touch-capacitive screen setup for the climate control.

Opting for the Prestige trim will get you both four-zone climate control and three-stage heated rear seats. so lots of nice goodies for the rear passengers.

Besides that, you also have a 12V outlet and two charging USB ports that are nice and lit. There’s also an armrest with built-in cup holders, which are quite small for some reason.

Third Row Is Mainly Meant For Kids

The Q7, like I said, is the biggest Audi in the lineup, which does mean that it has a third row. It's not quite as easy as some of the other rivals, like MDX. The process itself is a two-step process and requires more input than you usually would, but it does allow for pretty easy entry into the third row itself.

Now, you do have two seats in the third row of the Q7, which is pretty common for this segment of vehicle. In terms of space, you have 29 inches of legroom and 36 inches of headroom.

2024 Audi Q7 third-row seats

Once again, I want to remind you that I'm 5 '9 and my hair was brushing the ceiling. I also didn't have any additional legroom at all with the second-row seats slid all the way back.

So a decent amount of space, but it's not going to be as good as you can get out of something like the new Lexus TX, that's for sure. My feet did have a place to slide up underneath the seat up ahead, and the thigh support is okay.

As far as features are concerned, we do have cup holders on the sides. no USB ports, and we're also not going to have any vents in the Q7, which is kind of disappointing.

Average Cargo Space

With the 2024 Audi Q7, you do get a hands-free power tailgate. so that's certainly a nice feature. and as far as the space is concerned in the cargo area of the Q7, you're going to have a pretty good amount. 15 cubic feet behind the third-row seats. If we fold those down, we're looking at about 38 cubic feet, and then, as a maximum, we're sitting at about 71 cubic feet.

2024 Audi Q7 cargo space

Now, if you're curious as to how that compares to some of the rivals, that's very much on par with the Acura MDX, a little bit less than what you're going to get with the Volvo XC90, and of course quite a bit less than what you're going to get in that new Lexus TX model.

Besides that, you do have a few buttons to raise and lower your air suspension to make loading objects a little bit easier. You also have the ability to power-fold the third-row seats, which is a feature that you don't get on a lot of rivals like the Acura MDX

I do want to point out, though, that you're not going to be able to fold the second row of seats here in the cargo area. You’ll have to go up to those seats and manually fold them.

Refined Driving Experience

There are technically two engines for the 2024 Q7. The base model is going to have that 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, but there's a good reason why pretty much everybody chooses the 3-liter turbo V6, which I have in the Q7 I'm reviewing.

2024 Audi Q7 engine

That engine has performance, which is a lot more befitting of a luxury three-row SUV. It's smooth, refined, and quite powerful. As far as the power ratings go, it's 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. So very healthy power figures for a three-row vehicle like this.

It is going to be quite a bit of a boost over that standard 4-cylinder option, which Audi labels 45. The 45 is the 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder model that makes 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.

Engine2-liter Turbocharged V43-liter Turbocharged V6
Horsepower335 hp369 lb-ft
Torque261 hp273 lb-ft

If you choose the V6, it's labeled as the TSFi 55. That engine is the standard option on the Prestige, though. So if you go for that high-end model, you're going to go ahead and get this 3-liter V6 as standard equipment.

Besides the engine, there are a few things I want to talk about. First of all is the air suspension, which plays a key role in the dynamics of this SUV. Since I do have the air suspension on board the Q7 I drove, that allows you to have a more dramatic difference between your drive modes.

rear view of Red Audi Q7 driving

So when you choose dynamic, that's going to do the usual assortment of things to engine transmission throttle response steering but also lower down the Q7 and tighten up its suspension response. That way, you have a more agile feel behind the wheel, and indeed, when you go around some of the corners, you can certainly feel that.

Incredibly Comfortable

Now, of course, on the other side of that, if you go into comfort mode, that's going to allow you to just have the ultimate comfort. Just pick whatever is fitting for the situation. I definitely like that you have the choice of drive modes. I also just love the way this engine sounds. It really has a very nice growl to it, yes, for sure.

The air suspension does a fantastic job of just making your ride incredibly comfortable from day to day. especially when you're here in comfort mode. When you hit a bump, it does a phenomenal job of soaking it up.

Red Audi Q7 driving

This is truly one of the nicest-riding vehicles you can buy, especially in this segment. Certainly very impressive there. And I do want to point out that the air suspension is standard equipment if you choose a Prestige trim level.

Another thing is that with the 3-liter engine, you are going to get the mild hybrid setup that's going to mostly power advanced auto start-stop. But the 48-volt electrical components also power electronics, climate control, and things like that.

Fuel Economy

As far as your fuel economy is concerned for this TFSI 55 model, you're coming in at 21 MPG combined, which is not bad fuel economy for something with this much power and this much performance and refinement, that's for sure.

Safety

For your safety systems, Audi is updating this area for 2024, and I'm very happy to tell you that you're going to get all four of your active safety features as standard equipment. This includes a forward emergency braking system, auto high beams, lane keeping assist, and, new for 2024, adaptive cruise control, which is certainly a big benefit.

Of course, if you choose a Q7, you kind of want all those luxury goodies, so I'm glad that Audi is now including that this model year.

Highlight and Lowlight

The main thing I liked about the 2024 Audi Q7 was going to be the 2024 updates. You just have more standard features on board across the lineup. That's always nice to see.

You also have that new S-Line Sport model, which is going to give you that enhanced exterior design that actually looks a lot like the SQ7 for those of you who want that look, but you don't have to get that burly V8 that you get in that model and the price associated with it.

So that's certainly nice, and it overall just kind of enhances the very handsome exterior that's aging very gracefully.

Silver 2024 Audi Q7

And when it comes to the one thing that I didn’t like about the 2024 Q7, it was the interior space. The Q7 really does not have any interior space in here, which I do think is an issue when you're looking at a family three-row SUV. The Q7 is Audi's biggest SUV in their lineup, and there's just not really any center console space.

You do have a little bit of room, maybe for a few little items. But aside from that, you're not going to have a lot of interior storage, which is certainly a big difference from a lot of those other family-oriented rivals like the new Lexus TX
