Honestly, the whole Bronco lineup at Ford's portfolio makes sense in one way or other. Need a basic SUV with classic stance but with car-like ride quality- get the Bronco Sport; need a proper offroader?- get the regular Bronco SUV. 

 

But this article is for those who want more. Not just an off-roader or car-like SUV. The 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor is the most powerful Bronco rolling out of the factory right now, and it flies!

 

No really, it flies even if its off the road. And let me tell you, driving a fast car on asphalt is fun but it's nothing compared to driving fast on the gravel! The 2024 Bronco Raptor is just made for that. So without wasting any single sentence, let's dive straight into the Bronco Raptor review.


Oh It Looks Agressive!

Let’s start with the hood of the Bronco Raptor. As you can see, there’s a vent in the center of the hood, which is part of the trademark Raptor design. 

 

This particular Bronco we had for review, has been painted in Azure Gray. Definitely a lovely shade that's also subtle. It kind of resembles Area 51 because of the metallic flakes in the paint.

Just like the F-150 Raptor, the Bronco Raptor comes with amber headlights and three marker lights on the grille. There are two more lights located on the mirror caps. 

 

Even the bumper on this Bronco is reminiscent of other Raptors and houses a large skid plate. Besides that, the Bronco Raptor boasts 13.1 inches of ground clearance and fog lights as well.

The 2024 Bronco Raptor comes with the 37s both in the front and rear axles, wrapped around 17-inch wheels. At the moment, beadlock-capable wheels are the only thing you can get with Bronco Raptors. In our opinion, they look better than the standard black wheels you get and add to the wow factor of the car.

 

Just like the standard Bronco, the Bronco Raptor comes with an independent front suspension. This includes the Fox shocks, which, like usual, are insane. You have two options for the fender flares with the 2024 MY: painted or unpainted. It obviously depends on the color you choose, but when it comes to this gray color, though it might be an unpopular opinion, we think unpainted is the way to go.

One thing we are definitely going to do soon is get rid of the Raptor-style side steps. Because, up until now, they have been pretty much useless for us and end up getting in the way more times than not. 

 

Other than that, we like the way the unpainted fenders match contrast with the unpainted roof. Especially this matte Azure Grey shade, the bare panels look very rugged. 

 

One thing to note is that the back fender flare has a removable piece. We hope you guys can understand what we are talking about once you see the side view of this car. Basically, Ford doesn’t paint the roof of the Bronco Raptor. So if you were to get the fender flares painted, the contrast would look really weird. Especially with this color. So that's why we were saying that having the fender flares unpainted is the better option. Overall, the Bronco Raptor looks really cool in this Azure gray color.

The back of the Bronco Raptor has a hydraulic strut to help with the opening of the tailgate; that’s nice to see. The way the tailgate opens is quite similar to that of the Jeep Wrangler, and once you get in here, there’s a lot of space to work with. The spare wheel hanging off the back of the car does obstruct the view somewhat. Standing behind the car, you can see the red markers on both the top of the spare wheel and the mirror caps.


Simple Interior With A Lot Of Attention To Detail

While taking a look at the rear door panel, you’ll see that it has some soft-touch areas. You’ll also see some code orange accenting on the side pockets. That same color accent can also be seen on the seat belts.

Both the legroom and headroom are pretty good in the rear seats of the Bronco Raptor. One thing that is still absent from this car is air vents, which is sad to see. You do get some storage pockets behind the front seats and both the window controls, along with the power outlets for the rear seats in the center console.

The front door panel is quite similar to the rear door panels and has both the code orange side pockets and some soft touch trim on it. The Raptor-style seats in the front are, in our opinion, more stylish in appearance than the vinyl ones. Additionally, the seats have power adjustments.

The steering wheel is yet another feature that is in line with the Raptor theme. It comes with a bunch of carbon fiber trim along with the Raptor logo. You also get code orange stitching on the steering wheel.

There are a bunch of buttons on the steering wheel itself, which control things like the suspension, steering, and exhaust. Lastly, there is a button for the R mode, which you activate by simply pressing the button twice. Behind the wheel, you get Raptor-style paddle shifters. On the bottom left of the steering column are the controls for the lights. 

Besides that, we like the look of the dashboard. It has a hard-touch feel to it, but it looks cool.

Center Gauge Cluster

The central gauge cluster, in contrast to the standard Bronco, is entirely digital. It looks way cooler, too. By the way, according to us, the optimal configuration for best gas mileage is two-wheel drive with Baja exhaust, regular suspension, and sport steering when using the R mode.

Almost the best, that is. You get higher gas mileage if the exhaust valves are indeed completely closed. We have no idea why it happens; perhaps back pressure plays a role.

What Features Does It Have?

You do get a 360-degree camera system with the Bronco Raptor, which is great because it's a large car. Like its as wide as a F-150 Raptor and as long as a Jeep Wrangler. It’s the width that’s a bit more on the crazier side, so it's good to have that feature. Besides that, there is blind spot monitoring on the mirrors as well.

The infotainment system in the Bronco Raptor is incredibly responsive, user-friendly, and has a sidebar similar to that of other fully equipped Ford vehicles. Below the infotainment screen, you have analog controls for the radio, the camera, dual-zone air conditioning, heated seats, and steering wheel. Unfortunately, you don’t get ventilated seats in this car.

You also get controls for the stabilizer bar disconnect, front and rear locking differentials, trail turn assist, stability control, and your hazard lights. There’s a wireless phone charging pad in here too.

Next, we have our drive line selector combined with our goat mode selector. This being such a powerful off-road vehicle, it's no surprise that it features an advanced four-wheel drive system. There are many off-road settings, such as rock crawl and Bajan, that you can switch between. This car is actually very good at rock crawling and Baja.

The controls for the windows and mirror adjustment are just below the drive-line selector. The Bronco Raptor's glove box is unquestionably larger than the Wrangler's. Then on the ceiling, we have six auxiliary switches mounted for different things. For example, auxiliary switch number one is for the fog lights.

One last thing we need to talk about the interior is how the insulation in this is far better than what you get inside a Wrangler.

Powering 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor

So, powering the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor is the turbocharged 3-liter V6 which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and delivers 418 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for this car is 15 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on highways.

Fun And Comfortable To Drive

When it comes to daily driving, the 2024 Bronco Raptor is super comfortable. It doesn’t have the same level of comfort as the F-150 Raptor. But nonetheless, it's quite comfortable, and we think it's almost as quick, or sometimes even quicker, than the F-150 Raptor. It might be the same in terms of acceleration, though. Like, even though we wouldn't call this the fastest thing in the world, it's by no means slow. 

It is comparatively louder than the F-150. And it's not because of the exhaust but mostly because of the amount of wind noise it creates thanks to its boxy shape. The insulation that we compliment unfortunately doesn’t help it be a particularly quiet car.

One important thing to note about the Bronco Raptor is that it is difficult to maneuver, just like the F-150 Raptor. It’s a bit easier, we would say, than the F-150 Raptor because it's not as long. But the width does become a headache, especially when you’re trying to pull into a parking space. It's something you just have to get used to. Compared to this, a Wrangler is narrower, which helps while parking.

Overall, this is a fun car to drive and has a sporty feel to it. We would even say that this feels sportier than the F-150 Raptor, mostly because of the extra noise coming inside. It’s not the best daily driver, but it's good enough.

The main thing that attracts us to this car is that it's just fun to drive. That is sort of the main thing you expect from a Raptor vehicle. Things like bumps in the road or train tracks become fun in a Raptor. In a normal car, you would slow down to avoid taking a big hit, but in a Raptor, you’re almost tempted to go faster and jump over it. And that feeling kind of adds to the fun factor.

How Is It A Better Than A Wrangler Or F-150 Raptor?

When it comes to daily driving, we would say that the 2024 Ford Bronco Raptor is a better daily driver compared to a Wrangler or even a Gladiator. The only downside to this car is its width, which becomes a headache while trying to park in certain areas. 

When you compare it to the F-150 Raptor, this car isn’t as good in terms of being a daily driver, but it's comfortable enough, and according to us, it's more exciting to drive.
