Say Hi To The Better SUV, 2024 Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V is one of the bestselling SUVs but how does it manage to become so? I mean it is not the most fun to drive SUV in the segment, that's for sure. But where it really shines is in the packaging and practicality.

For the last few days, I had this 2024 Honda CR-V with me, and let me tell you, this is one of the most sensible SUV I've ever tested. And that's why it crosses the enormous sales figures every year alongside the Rogue and RAV-4!

But before we begin, let's have a quick look at the 2024 Honda CR-V's Pricing-

Firstly, The 2024 Honda CR-V Gets A Timeless-Design Language

To be honest, I never really liked the earlier generation of the CR-V models, as they felt like a bit overdone in terms of design. However, with the current design language and approach, Honda is making their cars larger in size, while keeping the look very clean and simple.

The 2024 Honda CR-V is longer, and wider, plus, Honda has increased the wheelbase too, helping it have a more spacious cabin than before. Design-wise, it's a very clean-looking compact SUV, while a lot of my auto-journalist friends like to call it very similar to the Mazda CX-5.

From every possible angle, it looks timeless and less stylized, just the way Honda updated the new Accord which we reviewed recently.

Family SUV Yet The Coolest Interior

The first thing that I noticed upon entering the 2024 Honda CR-V was its supremely comfortable seats! The front seats feel plush, and are adequately bolstered. Also, you have power adjustment to the seats, which serves as a premium or luxury feature these days.

The headroom for the front-row passengers is great, and so is the legroom. Plus, the visibility from the driver's seat is also commendable; I feel like it has the least amount of blind spots in the segment.

Another most noticeable part when you enter the CR-V is the dashboard, it's almost a copy of what you get to see in a Civic. Well, Honda seems to be trying to stay conservative with their design language, especially when it comes to the interior.

For people like me, who review cars, we see a lot of cars every month, hence it might not feel exciting inside the CR-V, as I've already driven the Civic and Accord for quite a while but for someone who's getting his first new-gen Honda, it definitely feels a lot more enjoyable! We'll talk more about the features on the dash when we cover the tech of the 2024 CR-V in this article.

Now, the backseats are as comfortable as the front, and full-size adults will find themselves very happy even if they're traveling for a long period of time. Additionally, you have an adjustment for reclining the back support as well, which makes the experience slightly better for sure!

And talking about practicality, the 2024 Honda CR-V has 39.3 cubic feet of cargo space at the back and when you fold down the second row, it becomes the most spacious compact SUV in 2024 in terms of luggage space.

Enough about the practicality, let's talk tech now!

Now, back to the tech part, I like this touchscreen infotainment display with the volume button on the bezels. It has nice feedback to it and doesn't really distract you from the road. However, this 9-inch touchscreen unit is only available in the higher trim levels, like the one we have here, the EX-L.

If you do choose the lower trims, Honda offers a 7-inch touchscreen setup in a similar frame which creates a lot of bezel area making it look very cheap, but in terms of usefulness, it works perfectly fine!

The 2024 Honda CR-V Retains Physical Buttons On The Dash Still Now, & That's Fantastic

What makes it more useful, is that Honda has kept the physical buttons for the air-con controls, from speed to temperature, and the quality feels exquisite for a CR-V! According to various other journalists, the interior finish and tech are a class above, and I can't really disagree about that.

The infotainment is not the only display you have here, take a look at the gauge cluster, and you have an analog speedometer accompanied by a digital display. This display usually showcases your RPM, but also hosts a ton of information about the car!

Personally, I'm not a fan of fully digital instrument clusters, but these types of semi-digital ones are both cost-effective as well as a pleasure to my eyes!

You Can Hear The Turbo Hissing

The 2024 Honda CR-V drives significantly better than the last generation CR-V. Although I still find it having a few issues from the past, but in most cases, Honda has improved a lot.

The powertrain and gearbox are perfectly tuned with each other……… churns out up to 40 MPG in the city!

Talking about the powertrain, you have the option to get either a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine or a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine coupled with a hybrid setup. In both cases, it puts out a total of around 200 horsepower, and that's quite evident from the get-go.

Although, this power is good enough to run around the city without any hassle, the CVT gearbox can sometimes be a bit hard to get used to on the highway. I mean we all know how CVT works, and on the highway, you do need to plan before you pass another car.

Other than that, the powertrain and gearbox are perfectly tuned with each other. Also, thanks to the CVT, the 2024 CR-V churns out up to 40 MPG in the city!

Now, other than the powertrain, I must acknowledge the significant betterment in terms of ride quality, and handling. The steering wheel feels very direct, and it has been calibrated really well with the CR-V. And the ride quality is also quite plush compared to most of its competitors.

However, I would definitely like better insulation, because the last time I drove the Tucson, it was far more silent than the CR-V. But one good thing about it, if you're an enthusiast, you do hear the turbo whistle which kinda compensates for the noise. Honestly, the noise is not unbearable, it just would've been better if it entered the cabin a bit less.

Should You Live With A 2024 Honda CR-V?

So to give a little bit of a verdict on how the Honda CR-V drives, I really like it; it feels really good; the steering is nice and direct; the brake pedal feel is lovely; it's got a nice smooth throttle tip in as well; the CVT is a little bit of a buzzkill; and the engine can be quite loud at just car park speeds!

But otherwise, the refinement is top-notch, with great ride quality, surprisingly quiet overall, and a really nice car to drive!

So there you have it. The new 2024 Honda CR-V is one lovely vehicle to have in your garage, spacious for the family, and practical for your daily needs while offering you a very efficient ownership experience at the end of the day.
