Let me tell you something, the 2024 Honda Civic Sedan is one of the most "makes-sense" sedans in the market because of its quite reasonable starting MSRP of just $23,950 while offering great reliability with a package of practicality and convenience.
In this article, I'll go deep and explain how it stacks up against the bunch of Asian competitors like the Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Nissan Sentra, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, and not to forget, the punchy and zippy Volkswagen Jetta; but before that let's have a quick look at the prices of 2024 Honda Civic sedan-
Trim | MSRP |
LX | $23,950 |
Sport | $25,550 |
EX | $26,950 |
Touring | $30,550 |

For 2024, Honda is offering two powertrains in the Civic sedan, and the one we have today for review is the top-tier Civic Touring sedan with a 180 HP engine! Now, without further ado, let's get straight into the review
A Grown Up Exterior
In general, I love the current generation of the Civic models, especially the 2024 Civic Sedan. It's more grown up than we had in the past, and unlike being just a teens favorite whip, it looks more elegant, clean and matured all while keeping the cool and stylish Honda vibe to it. We have to appreciate the fact that Honda is offering all LED headlamp setup with the Civic as standard and they work just fine. Oh and you do get the Auto-headlamp and auto-highbeam function from the base spec model as well.
On the side, a very clean design with a bit of funky-designing at the rear door, but overall, it's an adorable composition. Plus, I can't ignore talking about these beautiful wheels the 2024 Civic Touring gets, it's not the usual diamond cut, but has a delightful yet sporty sense to it!
My only complaints are at the back, don't get mem wrong, I love the aesthetics and the overall design; but you've only got LED tail lamps and the reverse lamps and blinkers are halogen, even in this top end trim costing over $30,550!
Plus, you do have a quad exhaust setup, but they're tucked in behind the bumper; some might say it's there for a cleaner look but I'd love to see them coming out at the back, making the rear profile look a lot more sporty! I mean if you want to be supremely elegant with the cleanest possible look, then choosing the top-end non-hybrid Accord will suit you better right? That too while saving a few hundred dollars!
Again, I love the design, it's adorable from every angle, I just wish Honda had thought through the effective minor upgrades that I just mentioned, it just adds to the value, and is also quite inexpensive, considering we're seeing the highest trim level.
The 2024 Honda Civic Sedan Has An Advanced Interior
You'll be mesmerized by the way Honda has done the interior of the 2024 Civic Touring; no, there is no overloaded luxury, and you'll find a lot of areas where they've used hard plastics, but the overall design, of the dashboard, gloss black panels, the honeycomb grille, and the sutle yet functional touchscreen, I've fallen in love with it.
Plus, the comfort inside the Civic sedan is quite impressive, for sure, the suspension is a bit on the stiffer side, helping the dynamics to be better, but to compensate that you have these plush seats. Oh and talking about the seating, it's quite spacious inside, even I, as a 6 ft-ish person, feel perfectly fine in both the front at rear seats, especially when the driver seat is adjusted to my preferable layout.
See, there are other cars in the segment, most of them have a lower average price tag, but still the Civic stays atop as the bestseller, so there's something that differentiates it from everyone else, and it's not just the reliability or the design or the power, it's a solid mix of everything and I can see that in the minute details of the interior.
In my opinion, you have a nicely laid-out, simple yet futuristic dashboard, the gloss black and silver contrast make it look even more appealing and premium. You've got two displays, one as a digital cluster and the other one as a touchscreen infotainment. Both are easy to use and so far, I faced less than negligible lags with me.
The steering wheel feels nice to hold and you do get the paddle shifters at the back, even though it can't technically shift, as it's a CVT, but it does work fine unless you expect it to perform like a DCT!
Coming back to the interior, I have to mention the lovely graphics you have in the digital cluster, very simple, yet intuitive, every other feature is available without hassling through the menu all the time.
According to our friends at a renowned magazine, the overall experience feels quite similar to an entry level German luxury car, such as the A3 or the A Class, in some extent, and I won't be able to deny that either.
At the MSRP of $30,550, I have to say that the 2024 Honda Civic Touring has a quite appreciative interior indeed. And for the other models, they do lack on some features, and have smaller screens, but none of them feel outdated or anything, even if you choose the LX trim at around $24,000.
Oh and I missed out on the trunk; it is quite spacious, probably the largest and most practical one in the segment, and also you have the 60-40 split for the rear seat that makes it even more useful. Now, let me tell you how's it behind the wheel of the 2024!
Decently Powerful Engines In The Lineup
Before we get into how the 2024 Civic Sedan drives, here's what Honda offers, for the base LX and the Sport trim, you get Honda's 2.0-liter naturally aspirated VTEC engine, while the top two trims, i.e., the EX and Touring, gets the 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 putting out 180 horsepower and compare that to the Jetta and Corolla, you're producing more horsepower!
A quick look at the powertrains below-
Engine | Power | Torque | Transmission | MPG (City/Highway/Combined) | Trim Levels |
2.0-liter Naturally Aspirated Inline-4 | 158 HP | 138 lb-ft | CVT | 31 / 40 / 35 | LX, Sport |
1.5-liter Turbocharged Inline-4 | 180 HP | 177 lb-ft | CVT | 33 / 42 / 36 | EX, Touring |

The 2024 Honda Civic Drives Really Well
Since we're continuing from the engine only, I gotta acknowledge that I love the 1.5-liter turbocharged motor, it's so peppy, powerful and ready to take off, I just can't think of it as a basic engine in a regular Honda.
Although no CVT can justify the fun of a powerful turbocharged engine, I have to say that Honda has tuned the transmission in a very enjoyable way so that you do have the fun of a powerful engine at the low end all while enjoying the crazy efficiency of over 40 mpg!
Now, other than the engine, I absolutely love the handling and braking of the 2024 Honda Civic Sedan. The brakes are the closest to perfect, they are not harsh, panicky, neither they're dull, they give you the right amount of feedback and make the car stop exactly where you want it to.
Then comes the steering, this is one of those areas, where the Civic still feels that it has originated from a fun to drive perspective! It's heavy, probably the heaviest in the segment and has a very nice weighted feel to it even if it's an electronic power steering!
And the best part is that the chassis just compliments the steering more and more, it turns exactly the way you want it to, feels confident on curves at high speed, feels confident while panic braking as well as crazy accelerations! Got to say, it si one of the best chassis in the new-affordable-car-scene right now!
How Does The 2024 Honda Civic Justify Itself In It's Segment?
Now, summing things up, will I suggest you to get the Honda Civic Sedan over the competitors? Yes, but there's a catch. See, there are other options that are better at certain areas; for example, the Corolla focuses on efficiency and the hybrid is the most lucrative option it has! The Jetta in the other hand is more performance oriented, while the Hyundai Elantra prefers to be the most futuristic of all while offering great comfort.
Being an all-rounder fun sedan is where the 2024 Honda Sedan excels; it has plenty of comfort, a lot of space for both passenger and cargo, offers a nice and smooth driving experience, handles well, and feels more premium than it's class! Hence if you want a car that can do it all, then the 2024 Honda Civic Sedan is something that you should definitely consider!
