2024 Honda Accord: Where Style Meets Substance!

The 2024 Honda Accord is one of the very few midsize sedans on the market right now that is fuel efficient and practical to the core.

The Honda Accord is a completely different machine compared to what it was in the earlier generation. Freshened just last year, the 2024 Honda Accord aims to be the bestseller in the segment. In the midsize sedan segment, the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord are the primary contenders, with the exception of the Altima, Elantra, and Kia K5.

However, if we are comparing the hotshots, the Camry stood out as the definition of the simplest car in the segment, which made it the bestseller. But the Accord included some fun, which is why it got the attention of the younger crowd as well! But I think with the 11th generation of the Accord, things are different!

Well, for the 2023 model year Honda gave the Accord a full-blown generational update with better dynamics and more spacious interior. As for 2024, the Honda Accord continues to carry the 2023 model-year specs without any significant changes. Today, I'll be reviewing the 2024 Honda Accord Touring trim. However, let's a quick look at the 2024 Honda Accord MSRP for different trim levels including the hybrid and non-hybrid variants.

2024 Honda Accord Price For All Trims

TrimMSRP
2024 Honda Accord LX$27,895
2024 Honda Accord EX$29,910
2024 Honda Accord Sport Hybrid$32,895
2024 Honda Accord EX L Hybrid$34,540
2024 Honda Accord Sport L Hybrid$34,875
2024 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid$38,890

A Mature And Simpler Look Compared To Predecessors

The 11th generation of the Honda Accord, when it came out in 2023, created a lot of fuss about the new design. While many were in love with the clean look, a lot were not happy as it lost the attractive vibe present in the earlier models. To me, the 2024 Honda Accord sedan looks just fine, let's talk about the exterior design one by one.

Red 2024 Honda Accord Front Profile Active Grille

The front profile, and the grille, definitely look alike the current 2024 Ford Mustang, but less aggressive and more subtle. For you information, this is an active grille which means it opens and closes according to the required airflow in the engine bay. Plus you get the all-LED headlamp setup, which does come with auto high-beam feature, indeed a nice addition. I love the fact that it also has functional air inlets instead of the fake ones that we've been seeing in recent years.

The Hood Is Gigantic!

I missed out on mentioning the hood, it is huge! You don't usually see this long of a hood in any car these days unless they're some ultra-luxury model from manufacturers like Bentley or Rolls-Royce.

The Side Profile & Rear Are More Like A Volkswagen Than Honda

Red 2024 Honda Accord Side Profile

The side profile in my opinion is more of an Audi A7 look and has a VAG-ish vibe to it. It has a slope that ends almost at the back of the car, giving it a Sportback look, although it's not. What it does add up to is that you have better space for the rear passenger, especially in terms of headroom.

I love the wheels you get in the top-end Touring model, it has quite a similar structure to the Civic Touring with the spokes. These are 19-inch wheels, while you'll get 17-inch alloys in the standard trim levels, and I have to say, they look pretty fine as well, nothing like a base spec. Those are simple yet have a creative design to showcase.

At the back, it is again a very A7-type look, but unlike the Audi, it's very clean! There's not a lot of stuff going on in here. I love how they added a tiny Honda badge here in the middle of the tail lamp strip, just brings the 90s essence to it.

Talking about the tail lamps, you have LED strips that almost connect to each other, and that's how most manufacturers think about tail lamps these days. Simple and visible quite clearly. It looks a lot like they've tried to digitalize the back end and that is not a bad thing at all! The different 2024 Honda Accord colors are sure to complement its subtle and sleek design.

There's Almost Nothing Going On With The Design!

Overall, Honda went for the simpler, more non-styled look with the new 2024 Accord. If their goal is to reach a wider audience instead of a particular crowd who want an aggressive-looking car, I think, it just suits the Accord. Also, the different configurations for 2024 Honda Accord look quite similar with nothing much distinctive.

2024 Honda Accord's Interior Feels More Like A Premium Civic

Honestly, the 2024 Honda Accord impresses me a lot, but not to the extent I'd expect after the earlier 10th-generation Accord. Take the interior for example, Honda has used much better high-quality materials overall and I love the way they've laid it out.

However, the dashboard is very much inspired by the 2024 Honda Civic, and even though it feels way more premium in terms of the material, the luxury essence of the earlier Accord with some wooden trims on the dash is gone. You have a mix of gloss black and dark grey contrast but it's pretty simple. For me, it's a much better and more intuitive interior with the fully physical climate control buttons, a bit more usage of soft-touch material.

Probably The Comfiest Seats In The Segment!

I totally adore the seats, the amount of softness they have as well as bolstering. Plus, you do get two-way lumbar support and fully electric adjustments, which makes the whole experience a lot more premium and luxurious. Also, from a driver's perspective, everything is easy to access.

At the back, I've got quite a lot of space, and it is evident that it's the biggest sedan of its class for sure! For most people, there's more than enough legroom, thigh support, and knee-room at the back. Plus, all thanks to the more leaning slope at the back, you have better headroom than the previous generation. You also have two USB C ports back here alongside the AC vents, I wish they can update it with a 12-V socket as well, that'll make it more practical.

The 2024 Accord Is Perfect For Hauling Loads Of Luggage!

2024 Honda Accord Cargo Space

In terms of cargo space, you have the biggest cargo in the segment with a 16.7 cu. ft. capacity while the second largest boot is offered in the Elantra with 16 cu.ft., and the segment bestseller Camry comes with just over 15 cu. ft. of cargo space. Hence, I have literally nothing to complain about the practicality of the 2024 Honda Accord.

What About The Tech Inside The 2024 Honda Accord?

2024 Honda Accord Digital Gauge Cluster

In terms of tech, I've got a 10.2-inch fully digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display. The digital gauge cluster is very intuitive and you can easily walk through the menus and all the options with the controls on your steering wheel. The 2024 Civic we recently reviewed, also had a similar approach and I have to say that Honda has nailed it in the gauge cluster.

However, Honda has left Google to manage the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, and I have to say, that's probably the best decision they've taken. The infotainment is supremely well in terms of user experience. It connects to the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto within moments, and the response is amazing.

I wish they had a dedicated button for the Homepage just like the volume knob. Although, I don't understand why Honda chose the tiniest of a button for the volume knob! Especially when there's a ton of space for placing a larger and more handy button. Oh! Talking about the volume, in the top trim you do get a 12-speaker Bose audio setup, which works much better than the one you have as standard from the base, but I don't feel like it is made for music enthusiasts, sort of lacks the bass.

Pushing The 2024 Accord, You Have Two Powertrains From Honda

2024 Honda Accord Engine Bay Photograph

The 2024 Honda Accord specs are quite good for the asking price. So, there's two choice of powertrains that can help buyers to make a choice. If more fuel economy is your prime priority then go with the hybrid trims. Else, the standard variant is just fine in terms of performance and economy.

Honda employs a different hybrid system

Now, unlike the Camry and other hybrid cars that you've seen till now, Honda's hybrid system is quite different. Honda uses a small battery that is charged all the time with the help of the combustion engine. This battery then sends power to the motors that rotate the wheels. Hence, technically it's more of an EV powertrain that churns out power from the combustion engine.

The reason behind less economy than the Camry is its transmission choice as well

I mean, it is also a reason why it uses a direct drive transmission instead of the most commonly implemented e-CVT or other automatics. Also, this is the sole reason why it lacks efficiency compared to the Camry and other regular hybrids.

But it does help the Honda drive miraculously well, better in comparison to others!

Suitable Driving Dynamics For A Simple Car, Or Is It?

2024 Honda Accord Driving Down The Road

See, previously we all used to think of the Accord as a sleeper sportscar that would go head-to-head with any entry-level sportscar in the market. Especially the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine was the pick for enthusiasts and it was also available with a manual shifter! However, this time Honda is pretty clear with their approach in the 2024 Accord, and it is nothing like it was previously. And I would say that it's a good thing, let me explain why!

The EV To ICE Transition Goes Unnoticed Like No Other Car In The Segment!

In terms of driving, I love the way the 2024 Honda Accord puts down power. When you start from a standstill, it'll begin in a total EV mode, and then once you get up to a decent speed, it'll start using the engine. However, the best part is the seamless transition from EV to ICE, because in the end you're being driven by the electric motors only, and you feel nothing.

Only if you are not using the music system will you hear the engine start; that's it! The power delivery is quite linear, and it can cruise on the freeway all day long at high speeds! However, if you want to overtake everyone on the go, well, you are going to miss the punch the older turbo-2.0-liter had.

I don't think that is a problem with the 2024 Honda Accord, because it is a car that is targeted towards a larger audience who want a pleasant driving experience. Fun is a secondary thing, maybe, or maybe it doesn't exist in their equation of such a car! For most people, cars are just a tool anyway, so it completely makes sense.

Now, in the other aspects of driving, the steering wheel is pretty solid. I have to say that it has a better-weighted feel to it compared to the last generation Accord. The car turns easily when you want it to, it stays planted on the road. Most importantly, driving the Accord feels like you're driving a Civic! It doesn't really give you the big car vibe on the go, and it's just unbelievably easy to maneuver.

The suspension is well-tuned for comfort

Other than the chassis and the steering feel, the suspension is well-tuned! I had the chance to take it to a bit of a bumpy road, a canyon, and on the highway, but in every possible scenario, it outperformed most of its rivals. There's quite a lot of travel in the suspension to soak up bumps, and you barely feel the road while driving. Plus, the insulation has improved significantly, compared to its predecessor.

Is The 2024 Honda Accord Worth Buying?

Red 2024 Honda Accord Front Side Profile Rolling Shot

Well, the 2024 Honda Accord is one of the latest additions in the segment, and I would definitely have a look at it if I had to get a midsize sedan. It has a simple and subtle look; it is made to be bought by people in their mid-life as a tool of transportation; and it does the job very well while being efficient.

In terms of premium feeling, Honda used better materials inside the all-new Accord. Although it lost the luxurious essence of it mostly, I think the Accord looks way more futuristic and timeless with the current interior. However, I believe that no car is perfect, and every car has its own list of pros and cons.

Pros

  • The 2024 Honda Accord is one of the most feature-loaded cars in the segment.
  • The combination of ICE and EV powertrains work seamlessly unlike some other hybrid setups.
  • The 2024 Honda Accord is more spacious than ever

Cons

  • The Accord Hybrid fails to deliver the efficiency it's competitors like the Toyota Camry does.
  • The 2024 Honda Accord MSRP is on the higher side of the spectrum.

Is The $40,000-ish Price-Tag Justifiable?

The answer is "Yes" if you are looking for a hassle-free, comfortable, up-to-date mid-size sedan. Plus, other than the top trim, the second highest trim Sport Hybrid has an MSRP of $35,000 approximately, which is pretty competitive with its rivals! In the end, it's in the product; if it gives you headache-free ownership, then it does make sense to spend the extra few grand. Let me know your thoughts about the new lineup of comparatively "expensive" Hondas down below, would love to hear from you!
