Introducing The 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Over The 2025 Camry!

The 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid is still on sale even after the launch of the 2025 Toyota Camry. As of now, the 2024 Toyota Camry starts at $28,855, but you are probably going to manage a bit more discount because of it being slightly outdated!

Introducing The 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid Over The 2025 Camry!

The 2024 Toyota Camry is in its last iteration before Toyota introduces the major update for 2025. Although the basics will be similar to the current generation; with upgraded tech and stuff, it is likely going to be significantly more expensive than the outgoing model.

For one last time, I got the chance to test the 2024 Toyota Camry today, and I have to say, there are quite a few reasons to get a Camry of this generation over the upcoming one. When the new one is launched, Toyota plans to stop the sale of non-hybrid Camry models of the older generation, so we'll just stick to the hybrid Camry 2024 in this article!

Now, without further delay, let's dive deep into the Camry, but before that, a quick glance at the pricing of the 2024 Toyota Camry below-

Trim LevelBase MSRP
2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE$28,855
2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE$30,390
2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid SE Nightshade$31,390
2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE$33,745
2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid XSE$34,295

A Normal Car That Doesn’t Look Average

Talking about the exterior, I personally never felt the Toyota Camry looked bad. It has some good lines over the hood and the body, and the simple look of it makes it timeless. For sure it does look like a common car without a lot of design going on, but overall, it doesn't look outdated in that sense.

However, my favorite part about the 2024 Toyota Camry has been the rear profile and the alloys. No matter how much you want call it a regular car, the rear profile from the boot design, to the bumper to the exhaust tip, everything looks very sporty.

Plus, you get some really cool rim design in the SE Nightshade and XSE trim levels. The SE Nightshade gets bronze alloys, while the XSE comes with a set of blacked out alloy rims. The rest two trims, XLE, and SE, come with machine-cut alloy rims as standard, which makes them look a bit more elegant instead of sporty.

The Interior Of The Camry Is Getting Old!

As I have mentioned in my earlier articles about it, the 2024 Toyota Camry's interior feels supremely outdated. This is evident especially when you compare it with the likes of the Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, and the Honda Accord, that was launched last year.

I won't say that the quality of the interior is poor, because it's not. You'll find a lot of soft touch areas inside the Camry, which is not visible in some other competition. And you've also got quite a lot of buttons, including the air-con controls and volume adjustment. Plus, you've got three buttons for three different driving modes!

Well, as a fan of physical buttons, I don't mind having them at all.

However, from a basic consumer's perspective, it feels a lot older in 2024, and too simple for the current era of automotive industry. The touchscreen feels too small with huge bezel area all around, it does work fine but also feels slow compared to the competition.

Now, on to the comfort part; I love the way the cabin is laid out. You've a lot of headroom, kneeroom and legroom, no matter what seat you're in. Talking about the seats, they're super comfy, and adding to that, the suspension does a great job of soaking most of the bumps on the road.

Another thing that the Camry has been known for is how silent the cabin feels. Gotta say, the insulation is quite effective and you almost here no road noise inside the car.

Oh yes, for those of you who are looking for practicality, the 2024 Camry is quite spacious. Be it the glovebox compartment, or the space under the armrest, everything feels well-utilized when designing the interior.

Plus, the bootspace feels quite huge, and I'd say, you can compare the boot with a SUV even, it's that spacious. One fine touch by Toyota is the addition of LED boot-lamps, usually, it's halogen in other cars which are pretty dim. LEDs just push the experience to the next level of premiumness.

Now, let's see how it drives.

The Hybrid Powertrain Is Adequately Efficient!

The 2024 Camry Hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter engine coupled with a hybrid setup, making a total of 208 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque. For this hybrid powertrain, Toyota uses an E-CVT transmission which makes it slightly boring in comparison to other automated manual gearboxes.

Plus, I'm driving this back-to-back with a Corolla Hybrid, and so far there's a big difference. This 2024 Camry Hybrid definitely feels more like a luxury sedan, whereas in the Corolla which is kind of like a zippy compact sedan.

Bonus is the efficiency of up to 53 MPG!

However, there's nothing bad about it at all. The hybrid to ICE transition is quite seamless and also the CVT does a fantastic job to integrate two powertrains into one. The acceleration time is also quite reasonable, and it does move! Obviously, I won't expect crazy overtaking manuevaer with the Camry Hybrid, but are Hybrids really for that?

Overall, in the engine department, I'd say the 2024 Toyota Camry does a pretty good job of being a reliable hybrid with good amount of power on tap! Bonus is the efficiency of up to 53 MPG!

How Is It Like To Drive A Camry?

In terms of driving dynamics, the Camry has always been up above most of it's competitors. The suspension feels soft but quite grippy on high speed maneuvers. The chassis is very well tuned, and body roll is also quite minimal.

The steering wheel gains right amount of weight on the go, and it does differ according to the driving modes. In the Eco mode it's much softer compared to the Sport one.

One issue that I felt, is the braking. The brakes feel quite soft from a driver's perspective, even though it is way more effective than you feel. I mean, Toyota could've easily set up the brakes in a way that it offers the driver more confidence.

There you go, all my views after driving the 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid. Now, should you get one over the upcoming 2025 model?

At the end of the day it's your decision if you want to go for the new 2025 Camry or settle down with the 2024 one. In my perspective, if you are not really a neatpicker about tech and interior design, you should go for the 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid. With the 2024 Camry, you'll get better discounts and less amount of wait time, while the 2025 one will be at the peak of it's demand.

And comparing with the newer model, just some part of the exterior has been upgraded to the new Toyota design language. The main update has been done inside the cabin, with better infotainment and new design layout that is able to compete with the advanced competitors.

So, it comes down to your preferences, I personally do not have any issues with the older one, it still looks up to date, and if you remove the interior design section, it still stands tall in the segment.
