In this article, we are reviewing the 2024 Ford Mustang GT. Under the hood, we have a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 that goes through a six-speed manual transmission; fuel economy is 14 mpg around town and 23 on the highway, with power outputs of 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque.

Starting with the hood, we love these body lines, and then it has the venting there in the center, which also adds to the coolness. Coming down below, we've got the new style of headlights, which look really sharp—a lot better than the outgoing version, that is for sure. The grille is all blacked out except for the Mustang horse, and putting it all together, the fresh face on the 2024 Mustang looks a whole lot better, in our opinion.

Now, on the side, the tire-wheel setup is 255-40 R19 in the front and 275-40 R19 in the rear. The wheel design here is pretty crazy and kind of reminds me of BMW wheels in a sense; then it does have Brembo brakes, and by the way, the brakes are massive on this! On the fender, it has the 5.0 badge, and the mirror caps are blacked out. The door handles are body-painted, and we adore the side skirts! The full-side view of the new Mustang looks really sleek!

We know that this is supposed to pay homage to the Ford GT, but it kind of reminds me of the Camaro. A quick look at the key fob and we have our lock-and-unlock function, the switch for opening the trunk, and the Mustang logo on the back. Speaking of the said trunk, it looks like it's pretty much identical to before with the storage space, which is pretty good for a sportscar like this is.

And the spoiler, we think, looks really cool with how that's all connected. Then you have the GT badge on the back, and we love the new tail light design; it almost kind of looks cartoonish in a way seeing it in person, but overall, we think they did a pretty good job at the back. The exhaust tips at the bottom are super aggressive!

Putting it all together, we really love the looks of this new 2024 Mustang. We think they did a really good job when it came to styling!

Impressive Cabin Or Functional?

The door panel has soft touch material at the top, then the trim down below, and we think it looks pretty cool with all the stitching and everything! It has got memory seats, blind spot monitoring with the mirrors, and the window controls, mirror adjustments etc.

The backseat situation looks to be completely identical to before, like even the shape of the seat and everything, which isn't necessarily a bad thing because we think it looks cool with really nice perforated material, but in normal Mustang fashion, headroom is not great, and legroom is also not great. It's a great storage area though.

The front seats are perforated all down the center portion, and with the power adjustment on the side, it is partially manually adjustable. Speaking of manual, yes, this one has the six-speed manual transmission with the three-pedal layout!

Then we have the new style of steering wheel. We actually like the design; it's kind of like flat bottom, which is pretty cool, and the trim on it matches with the door. On the steering wheel, it has got stuff like adaptive cruise control, alongside the mode select for the different drive modes which is fun, and then it has got stuff for the heated steering on the wheel as well.

Do You Need Tech In A Muscle Car?

On the back of the steering wheel, the 2024 Ford Mustang comes with this full digital gauge cluster, which changes with the different drive modes, and I think it is definitely a fun little thing. Plus, it has some animation too with the Mustang. It's very video gaming-ish and I guess that they're trying to appeal to millennials a little bit more because it literally reminds me of a car video game.

In reverse, we do have a backup camera with trajectory lines that turn with the steering wheel, and it has the zoom function as well. So pretty good camera system, and this leads us to the infotainment screen. We've got like a shortcut bar here at the bottom for controls like cooled seats as well as heated seats.

It's easy to access the climate stuff all the time, so we think they did a good job with that. As for the rest of the screen itself, it looks like the overall response time is solid, it's easy to use, and everything's pretty straightforward with the screen. We think they did a good job on this, and it's definitely interesting seeing this plopped on the dash, which is just lots of screen action!

In the center, the 2024 Mustang GT has its own engine stop-start button, a little Mustang horse button that will pull up everything with the Mustang, including the exhaust that you can make louder or quieter, and it’s got some custom mode so you can customize the car. Also,  there are different themes, including the fox-body theme, and Ford will probably add more down the road.

Below that, we also have a wireless phone charging pad and then the shifter for the six-speed manual transmission; we'll elaborate more during the driving section. Plus, it’s got a nice trim all around the shifter, and you have this parking brake, which is very interesting.

To turn it off, you have to have your foot in the brake, and then you push it down, and then it'll put the brake off, and then you just pull it up, and then it'll put the brake on—definitely different! Following that, you have some cup-holder action, and then the center console has got some nice padding as well. And speaking of storage, the glove box is pretty normal!

How Does The 2024 Mustang GT Drive?

Black 2024 Ford Mustang GT Front Side Profile

Setting off in the 2024 Mustang GT, we like how easy this exhaust is to access, and we do love this fox body gauge; it looks really cool! We think that was kind of like a perfect thing they did, and we wish that more automakers would consider doing kind of like retro style with some of the analog or with these new digital gauge clusters because, in my opinion, it adds to the experience. The turn signal still takes a super long time to go through because it's sequential with the lights, which is always fun!

In terms of driving, it feels good so far; rev matching is super easy with this really bliffable throttle. We're actually really impressed with those drive modes; the transmission still kind of feels a little bit weird, just like the previous version GT. We think you still have to get the Dark Horse where you get the Tremec six-speed! But yes, we love the feel of this; it's got a very muscular feel, and the gauge cluster makes you feel like you're in an old-school muscle car! The steering feels kind of like super light, but there is steering adjustment that you can do. Even if we are in sports steering, it just seems like it's a little bit overly.

Summing things up, we love how this looks; we like the new interior and the new tech; we think it works pretty well, and it feels like more of a facelift than a full-on redesign. Yeah, it has got a lot of new interior elements, but like in terms of how the car drives and all that, not terribly different than before. The only thing is that it feels more like a muscle car; it seems like they've done something to make this feel more muscle car. The only complaint we can have is that the steering feels kind of numb; it’s hard to tell what's happening with the front end.
