2024 Genesis GV70: The Competition Killer

The 2024 Genesis GV70 is a rare amalgamation of luxury, comfort and value in the form of a compact SUV

The 2024 Genesis GV70 is a real threat to the competition in all regards. The list of standard safety features, luxurious interior, warranty coverage, and exquisite styling are all its USPs. Also, not everything is external. Mechanically, it has two solid powertrains and a dynamic chassis to bring a smile to your face. The 2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 comes with similar USPs, adding zero pollution and a lower cost of ownership in the longer run. 

The 2024 Genesis GV70 price starts at $45,150, and it's no wonder you already see so many of these on the road. Not only does it undercut the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 in terms of pricing, but it also overdoes them in terms of sheer luxury. Today, I’ll be reviewing the 2024 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport Advanced (starting at $64,150) trim and explaining how it can give most European brands a run for their money.

2024 Genesis GV70 Price For All Trims 

Distinct and Futuristic Styling

With an upcoming refresh in 2026, Genesis has not made any exterior changes for the 2024 model year. Even the 2025 model year will remain unchanged. However, even the current design language is fantastic. Being a Sport model, you've got the darkened grille up front with the signature Genesis crest design. 

Signature quad beam LED headlights look futuristic

Even the lower fascia is quite aggressive as well. The headlights retain the signature Genesis quad-beam LED setup with dual daytime running lights and indicators. The chrome Genesis moniker looks bold on the wide hood of the 2024 GV70. Most Genesis cars retain this headlight design for a distinct identity. 

Moving to the rear, the same sporty and athletic stance does continue, and it looks really good. For the 2026 refresh, we're not expecting it to change a lot in terms of the overall design. So, there’s a wiper on the rear glass. Also, there’s an LED brake light portion, an LED turn signal indicator, and the reverse light is integrated way down in the rear bumper, and that's also LED.

Even the diffuser area is quite aggressive. I personally love the way the exhaust outlet looks. You get the circular exhausts because it’s a sport trim. If you get the regular trim, then you're going to have a more squared-off look, but I really love the exhaust shape on this trim.

Coming to the side view, you get the 19-in alloy options and 21-in alloys if you choose a Sport Prestige model. The golf ball appearance that's inside the spokes themselves looks very distinct, and I do like this design. Coming up to the mirrors, there’s blind spot monitoring, heating, auto-dimming, and power folding.

The 2024 Genesis GV70 Interior Is Extravagance Redefined

The exterior luxury continues into the interior design as well. Getting inside is super easy with keyless entry, and the mirrors do fold open when you approach the car. The interior feels and looks very upscale, especially in the Sport Advanced trim level.

You get the full quilted Nappa leather seats with a beautiful design. I love quilting, and it goes all the way down to the very bottom. You also have a ton of adjustments, and there’s several different interior color options as well. If you get the Sport Prestige, you're going to add some suede accents inside the seats themselves.

For enhanced comfort, there’s 16-way power support with adjustable bolsters and a thigh extension, and if you choose the Sport Prestige model, you even get a massage function. The cabin materials are top-notch, with leather on the door trim and on the upper part of the dash as well.

So there’s a cool layered trim that comes on this version, and it is actually backlit, so inside of it, the ambient lights will glow in a certain pattern, which is a very clever idea in my opinion. So even in the upcoming models, I think there’s not much need for material improvements, as everything feels top-notch. 

Push the start button, and you get a nice view of the half-digital, half-analog gauge cluster. It can also change its style depending on the drive mode. The 2026 model will integrate the gauge cluster and infotainment screen into a single big screen, just like the Genesis GV80. We also have a large head-up display for direct viewing of the essential information. 

The steering wheel is a very nice, full-leather piece of art, and there’s power tilt and telescoping, along with heating functionality. The center console storage has a decent amount of space for this segment. So there are a couple of cupholders and a space for wireless charging as well.

The metal and glass rotary shifter feels solid and premium 

Just like some other Genesis models, there’s a premium shifter. It is a beautiful metal and glass shifter. So, just twist to D for drive, and you have paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Twist to R for reverse, and you get access to a 360-degree camera with great resolution on board and an and an active trajectory front-rear parking system.

Moving down to the climate control panel, there's a kind of partially digital, partially analog setup. It's going to be a standard dual zone, while there’s available three-zone climate control as well. The touch capacitive buttons for your heated and ventilated seat controls do get haptic feedback when you touch. 

Premium Sound System, Large Infotainment Display And Big Sunroof Are Main Highlights

The Lexicon audio system is pretty good and is a treat for audiophiles. The main infotainment screen is a large 14.5-inch display that can be controlled via the rotary knob on the center console or via touch. Surprisingly, there’s no support for wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. 

Both connectivity features can be accessed via USB. Also, there’s a large, two-panel glass sunroof, but only the front panel opens up.

The rear seats are super comfy and can even recline for better comfort. The rear vents in the center are going to be included on most GV70 trims. The rear seat central armrest is foldable and comes with two cup holders.

Decent cargo capacity

Opening the hands-free power tailgate, you get access to 29 cu-ft of cargo space. Folding the rear seats increases that to 57 cu-ft. The rear seats are 60/40 split and foldable, improving practicality.

What’s Under The Hood Of The GV70? 

The 2024 Genesis GV70 gets a couple of powertrain options. The standard one is a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. My test example came with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both the powertrains are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, and AWD is standard.

Quick 0-60 times are cherry on the top

With the bigger engine, expect a 0–60 time of 5.0 seconds, which is plenty quick for an SUV of its class. No worries if you are opting for the smaller engine. As a 0–60 sprint in just 5.6 seconds.

Yes, luxurious SUVs can tow as well

The 2024 Genesis GV70 specs are too good and the 3.5T trims can tow up to 3,500 pounds, which is quite decent for something this luxurious. The EPA-estimated ratings with the 2.5T are 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The same reduces to 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with the bigger powertrain. 

2024 Genesis GV70 Moves Really Well 

Under harsh acceleration, the Genesis GV70 just shoots ahead without any hesitation. The V6 powertrain is just really smooth, refined, and fast. The 8-speed automatic transmission feels nice, and the smooth performance is also very responsive. The ride quality is super pliant, and road imperfections won’t disturb you. 

The low NVH levels are something to consider while buying this vehicle. While cruising, it can take on some of the big names, like the Cadillac Escalade or even the Lincoln Navigator. Taking corners inspires confidence. However, it should not be taken up against the Porsche Macan.

Should You Buy One Right Away or Wait?

As mentioned earlier, the 2026 Genesis GV70 will come with an updated list of features. However, most of the core elements will remain the same. So, buying one right now won’t be a regret, and if you can wait, good for you. However, there will be a hike in price as well. Overall, the Genesis GV70 is a solid choice to recommend, and it can take on the big names without working too hard. The main USP is that it does almost everything that the Europeans claim and even exceeds them in terms of outright value.
