How Worthy Is The 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition?

We’re going to be reviewing the 2024 Hyundai Palisade calligraphy with the night package. Let’s dive into the specifics!

Power and Performance

2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition engine

Under the hood, we have a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 that goes through an 8-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is 19 around town and 24 on the highway, with power outputs being 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

Dark and Dashing

The hood is flat in the center and kind of falls off a little bit. With this night package, we noticed that everything was darkened, especially the grill. The Hyundai logo has been blacked out, and there's actually a camera below the logo. The bezel with the headlight clusters is also blacked out. We think that looks really sharp, and when you put it all together, we think this car looks really cool with the blacked-out theme.

Now, taking a look at the taillights here, you’ll see a kind of boxy design. You’ll notice how dark that is, and we like how the badges are blacked out on the back. You've got the double exhaust tip setup.

Now, around the side here, our tire setup is 245/50R20 in the front and rear. The wheels are completely blacked out again with this package. We've got the nice body-painted fender flares. The rest of the trim here on the side is also blacked out. Then we have the random silver trim on the windows.

Jumping Into The Cargo And The Third Row

Now, popping into the cargo area, first off, we've got the controls to raise and lower the third row. You can also just lower the second row. You've got the 12-volt there as well. With the third row lowered down, you've got a ton of storage space in the back.

Now, we do want to mention the third row, as we've got a little recline function, heated seats for the third row, USB ports, cup holders, and when it comes to space, it's pretty typical of most SUVs in the segment. The third row can fit adults, but it's better reserved for kids. When you're all done, just press the button on the trunk, and that will lower the hatch right back down.

Comfort and Craftsmanship

Taking a look at the door panel on the back, you’ll experience soft touch at the top. We've got a sunshade for the rear passengers. We love the design. We've got our cup holders, and then we've got some speakers for the sound system. Instead of being like the full leather seats, they've got these inserts, which we think look pretty good.

Then you've got your adjustments on the side of the seat. The legroom in the back is really good. We've got a little storage pocket, heated and ventilated seats for the second row, our own climate zone, charging ports, and all of that.

Heading back, it's good, and we've got the premium headliner here in the Palisade, and then we've got a sunroof in the back too. Now, at the front door panel, you have soft-touch at the top, and look at the trim down below. All of our window controls get your mirror adjustments, memory seat function, and blind spot monitoring for the mirrors as well.

In the front seat, you’ll get the same trim as the back. All of our power adjustments and massage seats function too. Get your tow mode, stability control, parking brake, etc. It's soft-touch there all across the top of the dash as well.

Here's a quick review of the steering wheel. It's a soft touch all around; paddle shifters are there on the back for the 8-speed. We've got our adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and these volume and voice command controls as well. Then you've got your regular stocks there on the back.

Here's a quick review of the gauge cluster. We can scroll through different menus, see different bits of information on the car itself, and then we've got our different drive modes. It'll give us a cool animation, just like a Mercedes. It tightens the bolsters around you when you go into sports mode.

We have a 360-degree camera system. You see trajectory lines turn with the steering wheel, and then you get the cool exterior shot as well. Yeah, resolution overall, and then as for the rest of the infotainment system, response times are great. It's got your passenger talking. We think it's overall easy; it's just easy to use. That trim is really cool, and then you get the soft touch that goes across the dash.

2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition HVAC controls and drive selector

We've got our analog controls for the radio, climate controls down below, dual-zone climate with the little transmission selector, and then you have the drive mode; we have a center locking differential as well, hill descent control, and auto stop-start. The central control unit is for the camera system, parking sensors, heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, and then we also have the cup holders.

They got the cool pop-out feature and a wireless phone charging pad. You get good space, some 12 volts in there, nice padding here on the top, and then the glove box, yeah, pretty big. We do have a camera rearview mirror, and we have a center front as well.

On the window sticker, there is a 2024 Palisade Calligraphy Night Edition and a total MSRP of $55,715. So, it doesn't look like they really charge a premium for the Night Edition compared to regular Calligraphy, which is around $50,350 without destination fee.

How Is Its Driving Dynamics?

You also get a heads-up display while driving. Both mirrors do have blind monitoring, with the rest of the rear, and well, let's set off.

Seats are comfortable, which gets the massage going. It seems like with all the other automakers, you have to spend six figures if you want massage seats, but not with Hyundai. $50,000, and we do think it's cool that this doesn't have a huge price premium because other automakers just put price premiums on everything. They're like, "You want the blackout package? $5,000! Do you want this package? $10,000!" Whereas Hyundai always keeps things reasonably priced, which we really appreciate.

It drives like a regular Palisade and is pretty comfortable with the suspension. The three-row practicality is nice, and if you fold the third row down, you get tons of storage space. They just drive well. They're big enough that they are more comfortable on the road than a smaller vehicle or crossover, but they're still small enough that it's not hard to park. It's not hard to maneuver with it. It does have a little bump in the center, which is not bad. Yeah, good torque out of this little engine. It really does perform well.

It's got some power. This 3.8-liter V6 is nice. We think it just drives well. Turn signal camera—that's another cool feature, almost as cool as this nice silky smooth headliner. It's funny; you can buy luxury cars that are over $100,000 and don't have a nice headliner. They're like, "You want the premium headliner? That's part of this $12,000 premium interior package."

Is It Worth It?

To cap things off, we think this looks great. We love the blackout package. We like the fact that there's not a big price premium. Also, we forgot to mention that there's tons of storage down here. We always forget to mention there's storage under the center console thing.

Limited3.8-liter V-6$50,100

Calligraphy Night Edition3.8-liter V-6$55,245

It has great power, drives really well, is comfortable, looks good, and is reasonably priced for all the features you're getting. You do not get all these features in other cars at this price point. So, we think the Palisade is a really solid value.

They've got that warranty that's like, what, 10 years, 100,000 miles on the powertrain. So, unless you're going to keep the car for more than 10 years and 100,000 miles, which most people aren't, we think the Palisade's a solid choice.
