I like the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek a lot more than what we expected from the press release.

The New Redesigned 2024 Subaru Crosstrek

Today we are going to be reviewing the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek.


Is the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport A Style Icon?

So starting with the hood, we like all the body lines; they pop out quite a bit with this black paint. By the way, we've got the new sharp daytime running lights for the Crosstrek, and the headlight assembly in general looks really cool. We love how the piece of trim that goes into the Subaru logos is all blacked out, and then we've got the gold trim and the sport package fog lights at the bottom as well. 

Now, how are the tail lights with the new Crosstrek? We think they also look really sharp. We have got another Sport badge, and it's kind of like a yellowish gold. That makes sense.

The tire setup is 225/55R18 in the front and rear. The wheel design is pretty cool; it's mostly closed off, which is interesting. And then we've got these new Fender flares with the venting on the side that looks really cool, the Sports badge, and then we've got more gold trim at the bottom. The full-side view of the Crosstrek Sport with the gold accents looks really sharp.

Putting it all together, we're going to be honest. We weren't a huge fan of the previous generation's Crosstrek styling, but this new generation looks really sharp.

Is The Subaru Crosstrek Sport Comfortable And High-Tech On The Inside?

Now's our key fob; we have our unlock function or lock function, the opening for the hatch, or rather, the unlock with the hatch itself. We have a cargo cover built in from the factory, and then you can throw down the rear seats if you need more space. But space in the Crosstrek is actually really solid overall, and we also have the cargo liner in the back as well. And then if we actually cargo mat and pull the little strap, we've got a spare tire underneath, and then when you're all done, they give you a nice handle so you can just pop it down.

Now, with the seats, you can see gray down the center, then some gold, and then yellow stitching as well. Even though the Crosstrek's a pretty small SUV, it's actually pretty spacious in the back. We also have some USB port action in the back. It looks like we also have a cup holder armrest, which is nice.

Taking a look at the front door panel, we've got the cloth trim again with that yellow stitching. Down below, we have all of our window controls; the front two are automatic. For your mirror adjustments, we've got the carbon fiber print, and then there's a quick look at the mirrors themselves.

Netting the door panel, we've got two-tone with the gray and the black, and then we've got this yellow contrast stitching right, which looks really cool. 

Now, there's the front seat with the design in the center and then the gold on the outside, which is pretty cool. And it makes you get these really nice-looking pedals as well, and then more carbon fiber print for the inside.

Speaking of our steering wheel for the Crosstrek, you guys can get really nice padding all around, and then again, we've got the contrasted stitching. This does come with adaptive cruise control as well as steering assist. You've got a drive mode select on the steering wheel, volume controls, voice command controls, all the normal stuff, paddle shifters for that CVT on the back, and then turn signal light stock, and then windshield wiper stock.

This is the center-gauge cluster. We like the gold outlining; we think that it looks really sharp. And then obviously, you do have the drive mode select, which we can basically use to switch between the two different modes. Other than that, it's a pretty simple setup.

We do have a backup camera with trajectory lines that turn with the steering wheel, really good resolution, and then you can see it's the drive modes for the X mode. We don't know why Subaru has that setup, but when you put the car in reverse, it pulls it up automatically.

We've got our larger infotainment system, so you've got analog controls for the radio on either side and climate controls towards the bottom. Overall, the response of the screen's really good, even though this has this big plastic covering on it, and we would say it's really easy to use, frankly. All the stuff makes sense on it, so good job.

Now, down below, we've got a wireless phone charging pad, some USB action, and then we have our shifter for the CVT. We like the stitching there in the center. We do have heated seats with this, some cup holder action, got a 12-volt, and then the center console, which looks pretty nice. Then we got more carbon fiber print. We also have a glove box, and a manual mirror dimmer. We also have a center control.

Does The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Sport Pack A Punch?

Powering the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter flat-four engine that goes through a CVT automatic. Fuel economy is 26 mpg around town and then 33 mpg on the highway, with power outputs of 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque.

How Well Does This Machine Run?

Huge visibility over the hood, both of the mirrors, throughout the rest of the rear, and Crosstrek away, so we're excited to review this Crosstrek because it's got the 2.5. 

But anyways, torque's really good right off the bat, and on top of that, Subaru's done a lot to change their CVT over time with their cars just to make it less CVT-ish, if that makes sense. We are noticing that with this, it seems like it's not as CVT-ish as prior CVTs. It's really smooth; that's one of the big benefits of Subarus, and the handling's good too. The torque's really good, and we also like the suspension. You can tell that Subaru is focusing more and more on making these cars good on trails because that suspension cover's going to be great when you're going over rocks and all that kind of stuff.

Now, we don't think someone would take the Sport package off-road; I've just got the Wilderness package for that. 

Uphill acceleration with the Crosstrek is not bad at all. We kind of remember the Crosstrek as being so slow that you get frustrated with the acceleration, but this is actually really good. We're very impressed.

Is The Subaru Crosstrek Sport The Ultimate Adventure Companion?

So, summing things up with the Crosstrek, the Crosstrek Sport, we like this a lot more than we expected to, to be honest. So first off, we think this thing looks amazing on the outside, so good job with the design team over at Subaru. And the interior: we like Subaru's new interiors; they've got a very unique feel in the car industry. The best way to describe it is that it's not necessarily made of the nicest materials, but the build quality feels really good, and it just feels like a nice interior. 

And then when it comes to driving, the suspension is comfortable, it's got good power on the low end, and yeah, when you have to get up and move, it's not like a crazy fast car like a WRX, but it gets up and it moves at a very decent pace; this 2.5 is great. So, if you've got the extra money, we definitely think the 2.5 is worth going for; just the power is definitely worth it.
