2024 Lexus TX: Luxury, Performance and Practicality On Demand

The all-new 2024 Lexus TX is bigger than the RX, sharing its platform with the Toyota Grand Highlander. The three-row TX promises to offer luxury, comfort, and space. Also, there are three different powertrain options. 

The 2024 Lexus TX price starts at $55,050 and puts it in direct competition with the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Infiniti QX60, and Volvo XC90. Today, I’ll be reviewing the TX 500h F Sport Performance Luxury Hybrid trim that costs $72,650. Is it worth the price? Let’s find out. 

Subtle Aesthetics

When it comes to F Sport models, they are the most aggressive in the Lexus lineup. So that does carry over for the TX, but to a slightly lesser degree than I would have liked it.

The new TX is using something called the brand new unified spindle grille. So most of the front end is going to be body-colored now and kind of blend in with the rest of the body panels instead of that really distinct and defined spindle grille.

The front bumper of the F Sport model has some silver accents that are going to run all across the bottom of the vehicle. Even the LED fog light housing is a larger panel and finished in gloss black.

Coming to the headlights, the F Sport model gets full LED projector headlights, and we also have this new inverted arrowhead daytime running light and turn signal indicator. 

Coming to the sides, there are standard 22-inch alloy wheels. So, these have a totally distinct design from the rest of the models with a kind of Y-spoke design, and the contrast look looks pretty cool in my opinion.

Also, there’s F Sport branding over the fenders, and you're going to have a black finish up here on the top of the mirrors. The TX F Sport Performance Luxury gets power folding, auto dimming, heating, and blind spot monitoring as standard. 

The rear design of this vehicle gets an all-new look, and it's kind of big-looking. We do have an exposed wiper, and we have the newest Lexus tail light design. It's going to be a full-length design, and there’s Lexus spelled out across the back. 

Fortunately, all of the elements in this tail light are full LED. Dropping down to the lower area, we do have a special silver accent for the F Sport model. However, oddly enough, you're not going to have any exposed exhaust outlets even for this performance version. 

Sublime Interior

Getting inside is easy with the smart entry on all models. You also get an available digital key system. Obviously, there are multiple F-Sport elements in the cabin.

Talking about the seats, there are aggressive F Sport seats, and we get heavy bolstering on the sides and at the bottom as well. You also have the exclusive F Sport branding on the headrest.

The upper dashboard gets a soft touch plastic, and we do have a suede insert that goes up to the center section, and then as we go down, there is a soft touch plastic, and we've got a small darkened wood accent across the center console area.

The Lexus TX F Sport gets a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and it's going to contain some aspects of performance as well as hybrid system information. Also, it does change design when you change your drive mode. 

The 2024 Lexus TX F Sport Luxury has a very nice head-up display and can be controlled with the touchpads on the steering wheel. You can do almost all the functions inside of that without having to look at the cluster.

The center console has large storage space, and there are two large cup holders. Also, there’s a standard wireless phone charging pad and three USB-C connections.

The shift lever is pretty compact and easy to use. Also, you do have paddle shifters on the steering wheel. You also get advanced park assistance with the remote park function.

It allows for automatic maneuvers such as parallel and perpendicular parking. Lexus offers a 21-speaker Mark Levinson PrePlay audio system, and it sounds really good. 

The climate controls are located in the lower section of the infotainment display, but you also have the physical controls right there for your temperature adjustment. We have a three-zone automatic setup. Also, the front seats are heated and ventilated. 

The 2024 Lexus TX gets a large 14-inch infotainment display. It gets some nice features, including wireless Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Big Space, Big Screen, And Big Sunroof As Well

Also, everything is just going to be located through five very simple shortcuts. So it's an easy and responsive system. You also get a panoramic sunroof as standard, and it’s a large piece of glass. You can also open up the front panel.

The rear captain seats are very comfortable and offer 39.5 inches of legroom and 38.5 inches of headroom. It is a very impressive figure, and it's bigger than the Acura MDX. Along with three-zone climate control, we also get heated rear seats, and three-stage ventilated rear seats are optional.

The rear passengers won't miss on comfort

The captain chairs are very nice, and we can slide them forward and backward. We can also recline them for more comfort. 

The third-row seats had plenty of room for my feet, and it’s a very nice setup. So there’s 33 inches of rear legroom, which is the same as the Toyota Grand Highlander.

It is much improved over the Acura MDX and Infiniti QX60. Even the thigh support is very good. For better comfort, there are air conditioning vents on the top of the roof. 

Incredible cargo space 

You get a hands-free power tailgate on all TX models, and there’s 20 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats. If we power fold those down, there’s 57 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

If we fold the second row down to get our maximum figure, we're looking at 97 cubic feet of cargo capacity.

2024 Lexus TX 500h F Sport Gets A Hybrid Powertrain

Unlike the TX 350, the 2024 Lexus TX 500h gets a hybrid powertrain. A 2.4-liter inline-four engine works with two electric motors for a combined output of 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. All that power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Impressive 0-60 time for a three-row crossover 

With an immediate rush of torque assisted by electric motors, the 2024 TX 500h F Sport does a 0–60 sprint in a matter of 6.0 seconds. It is much faster than the standard TX 350 but slower than the TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid variant.

Even the MPG figures are very good

The 2024 Lexus TX 500h F Sport delivers 27 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The combined mpg of 27 mpg is pretty solid for a three-row crossover. The hybrid powertrain certainly delivers good fuel economy and performance. 

2024 Lexus TX 500h Handles Well For Its Size 

Driving the Lexus TX 500h is effortless with its torque-rich powertrain. It pushes you back in the seat when you press down on the throttle, even though you're already moving. The TX 500h is more sporty than the standard version. Also, there’s an adaptive suspension that's exclusive to this version. 

Driving in sport mode will slow those suspensions down a little bit with tighter handling and tighter steering. The TX F Sport performance has rear steering that can go 4°, thereby helping you to turn quicker. With a six-speed automatic transmission on board with this 500h, I think it is a very good match for the engine setup.

It shifts enough gears to get you the power you need when you need it, but it's also refined and smooth. The ride quality is very good, and the road imperfections won’t reach the cabin. However, shifting the drive mode to normal mode makes you feel a little bit of body roll, but it's much better controlled than the Grand Highlander.

Should You Get One?

Well, the Lexus TX 500h F Sport is a very practical, luxurious, and efficient crossover. It offers space for all your family needs. However, the Lexus TX is less dramatic in terms of aesthetics and driving experience as compared to some other Lexus vehicles. I would like a bit more aggressive styling and handling experience. Overall, it’s a well-rounded package and must surely be on your bucket list.
